AFOC (Alaska Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic) is thrilled to announce that ORCA (Orthopaedic Research Clinic Alaska) will join our practice as of January 1st, 2025. We look forward to welcoming ORCA’s patients and providers to the AFOC family.

Why is ORCA joining AFOC?
Our two companies share the same values, such as personalized care and dedication to our patients, as well as staying on the leading edge of orthopedic medicine and minimally invasive procedures. As part of this alliance, we are excited to welcome Dr. Doug Vermillion, Dr. Daniel Brown and Physician Assistant Ben Kennah to our provider team. These providers will also bring two new services to AFOC: bone health and pediatric orthopedics.
When will this change be effective?
ORCA providers will begin seeing patients at AFOC on January 1st, 2025.
What is the new address where ORCA providers will begin seeing patients on January 1st, 2025?
They will see patients at our main clinic, which is located at 4100 Lake Otis Parkway, Suite 220.
Will I have to use a new EMR (Electronic Medical Record) System?
Yes. AFOC uses Athena, and you will be assisted in registering all your information in the new EMR. We will make this process as quick and seamless as possible.
Does AFOC take the same insurances as ORCA?
Both AFOC and ORCA accept most insurances. For more information on AFOC’s accepted insurances, visit our Billing page.
As an ORCA patient, who should I call regarding appointments?
To make an appointment that will take place BEFORE January 1st, 2025, call ORCA at (907) 644-6055. To make an appointment that will take place AFTER January 1st, 2025, call AFOC at (907) 563-3145.
As an ORCA patient, how should I pay my bill?
To pay your bill for any appointments that took place BEFORE January 1st, 2025, log on to ORCA’s patient portal. You may also call ORCA’s office at (907) 644-6055, and press option 7 for the Billing department.
